Discover the visionary architecture of Sverre Fehn, Norway’s most celebrated architect, the only Norwegian to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize. Fehn’s work blends modernist clarity with the poetry of Nordic light, landscape, and materials.
Fehn’s work is creating spaces that feel both contemporary and timeless. This guided tour takes you through several of Fehn’s key projects in Oslo, including the Architecture Museum, before ending at one of his masterpieces, the Storhamarlåven Museum at Domkirkeodden in Hamar. There, Fehn’s unique dialogue between history and modernity comes vividly to life — ancient ruins sheltered within bold concrete and wood structures.Along the way, we visit smaller exterior sites as well as public interiors, exploring how Fehn’s architecture balances material honesty, light, and the surrounding landscape.
The tour can be a combined tour, experienced by bike, on foot, and by bus, and offers a rare opportunity to engage directly with the work of one of modern architecture’s true masters.
To get to Hamar we would organize a buss for the group. We might have the possibility to include the medivial Hamar Domkirke and the “Vikingship” (the Hamar Olympiahall “Vikingskipet”) in our tour.
